When content is uploaded to Mediasite the server will transcode the original file. This setting is helpful in many cases but can be changed within the Management portal. By changing this setting, videos created outside of Mediasite at custom bitrates can be preserved.

One method to help maintain a healthy level of storage is to set applicable files to skip the transcoding process. This can be accomplished in Mediasite by going to:

1. Settings Tab > Server Settings
2. Media Upload an Import
3. Choose the transcode setting you would like to apply
   1. Transcode all incoming MP4 content
   2. Bypass transcoding only for compatible H.264/AAC MP4 content meeting maximum media quality levels
   3. Bypass transcoding for all compatible h.264/AAC MP4 content
4. Click Save at the top of the page
