Catalogs have been available in Mediasite for a long time and are the most basic way to share a collection of content with users. Content is added to a channel either automatically through the use of shared folders or manually published. Presentations that are added to a catalog be it automatically or manually will all appear in a list under the same link. This makes catalogs an option when sharing an incomplete collection that will have content added over the course of a semester or session.
A Showcase is the largest collection of content available for sharing. This makes it a great option to share within a department or organization. Within a showcase the entire collection of content can be further broken down and categorized. Showcases contain a lot of customization so they can offer a personalized, branded experience for the audience. Populating content to a showcase is most commonly through shared folders, however it could be manually published from My Mediasite.
