Advanced Encoding to Save Storage

Recorder 8 improves upon the Mediasite encoding engine that more efficiently encodes video, leading to higher quality recordings while using less storage and bandwidth. Additionally, when paired with Mediasite Video Platform 8, you can ensure that you are taking full advantage of file storage and bandwidth savings.

Editing a Presentation Title While Recording

It’s now possible to update an on-demand presentation title while it is being recorded. Simply click the Pencil icon next to the title and rename it.

More Secure Out of the Box

Mediasite Video Platform 8 only supports HTTPS communication to ensure that your Mediasite deployment is as secure as possible. To ensure that your Recorder is configured correctly, please make sure all connections are configured to use https (e.g., https://mediasite.company.com/mediasite) instead of the insecure http connection.

Supported Hardware Revisions

Mediasite Recorder 8 requires a supported recorder model. Please check KBA4143 for the list of supported Recorder models.

Backwards Compatibility with Mediasite 7

If your server is still running version 7 of Mediasite Video Platform, you should not update your Recorder(s) to version 8 until your server upgrade is imminent. If this upgrade is not scheduled for the near future, we would suggest disabling the update notification prompt within the Recorder application to discourage users from accidentally upgrading to Recorder 8.
