Mediasite Channels have been consolidated so that now any Mediasite Showcase can include any type of Mediasite Channel, including MyMediasite User Channels. This greatly enhances the ability to merge content together into a showcase and simplifies the content flow.
Mediasite Presentations can be collected into a Channel, and Channels can be combined in a Showcase, and a Channel can be placed into multiple Showcases.
Existing Showcase Channels from earlier releases of Mediasite will also now be available to manage in the “Channels” tab in the Management Portal.
Mediasite Version 8.5 recently added support for third-party RTMP sources for live streaming as a limited release feature, and now Mediasite 8.7 extends that functionality to allow Instant On-Demand recording of those live streams.
After a third-party streaming service, such as OBS Studio or Wirecast Go, has completed the live RTMP stream through Mediasite using a stream key, Mediasite 8.7 can make the complete stream available as an on-demand playback at the same Mediasite presentation link as the live stream. You can then share the link with your audience, include it in a channel, or edit the presentation if you would like to make any changes.
Various updates and fixes have been included in the Mediasite 8.7 release for the Mediasite Web Video Editor. For more information about these changes, refer to the docs.mediasite.com
